New Asphalt Plant in Fivemiletown

A new Phoenix Starmix 3000 asphalt mixing plant has been commissioned in Fivemiletown, Co Tyrone by Whitemountain Quarries, a Lagan Group Company, to provide asphalt for the largest ever highway project in Northern Ireland.
The DBFO2 contract, as it is known, is a Public Private Partnership encompassing Design, Build, Finance and Operate and is a 30 year £250 million showcase road project for Lagan Construction, JV partners in the project.
The Phoenix StarMix asphalt plant has a 3,250kg mixer and includes eight cold feed hoppers, facility for RAP introduction, four vertical bitumen storage tanks, a fibre additive system and 300 tonnes of hot storage capacity. The plant is destined to provide almost 500,000 tonnes of quality asphalt for the surfacing requirements of the new dual carriageway A4 from Dungannon to Ballygawley as well as provide asphalt for other projects in Tyrone and Fermanagh.

Mr Hassan Ferkous, his two brothers and friends celebrate the arrival in Casablanca port of their Phoenix Transworld DrumStar 100 fully mobile asphalt mixing plant. The plant was taken to the work site, installed and brought to full operational capability within three weeks of arrival. -
Former Formula 1 World Champion Nigel Mansell inaugurates Tarmac’s Phoenix Asphalt plant
Following a very strict tendering procedure and extensive technical discussions with Phoenix engineers for the eventual purchase of their new flagship asphalt plant to supply Exeter and surrounding region, Tarmac Southern chose to celebrate their acquisition by inviting Nigel Mansell, the former World Champion racing driver, to formally open the plant.
This high specification plant conforms to and meets all environmental regulations and has a rated production capacity of 120 tph and in addition has the ability to process Recycled Asphalt (RAP).
